Training
Training takes place at the hotel and the Hotel School.
The first year comprises a 9-months preparatory training at the Hotel School and a subsequent 3-months training at the hotel. The focus is on gaining sufficent knowledge of the German language as well as on the aquisition of basic skills in hotel specific tasks.
Starting with the second school year, training follows the rhythm of one week of theoretical training at school followed by two weeks of practical training at the hotel.

Contents of training
The professional training for the Expert in Hotel and Catering Industry comprises of three main areas:
• Training in the kitchen
• Training in service/restaurant
• Training in housekeeping
Professional skills
• Preparation and presentation of simple meals
• Serving of food and beverages
• Preparation of hot beverages, mulled drinks and infusions
• Preparation of guest rooms
• Storage and inventory of goods
• Administrative duties
• Reception of and care for guests
Completion of training
An examination commission of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Leipzig conducts the examinations and issues the diplomas according to the general examination rules and standards.
